Before visiting Cape Town, Milan was my favorite city. It has the deeply rich history and culture that makes Italy so alluring. The city center is ancient, and you can see it in the cobblestone streets and architecture, but the city has really great public transit and tons to do. It's also very close to the mountains, and just two hours by train to the beach.
